The Fergus Falls Area Affiliate was formed in January 1991. The first Habitat house was dedicated in June 1992. With the help
we received from dedicated volunteers and generous donations, the Fergus Falls Affiliate felt confident in seeking a goal
of building at least 2 - 3 houses each year and has continued in meeting this goal on an ongoing annual basis. affiliate completed
its 50th home December 16, 2007.
The Fergus Falls Area affiliate includes Fergus Falls and the surrounding communities and counties of western Otter Tail,
Grant, Wilkin, and Richland in North Dakota. 50 Habitat homes have been built since 1991 throughout the area in the communities
of Barrett, Battle Lake, Breckenridge, Dalton, Clitherall, Elbow Lake, Fergus Falls, Ottertail City, Pelican Rapids, Richville,
Rothsay, Underwood, Fairmount and Wahpeton.

Opportunities for local involvement include building on homes, serving on the Board of Directors and serving on working committees
of the affiliate. These committees include Church Relations, Family Selection, Family Support, Finance, Fund Development,
Public Relations, Site and Building, and Volunteers. The committees and Board of Directors typically meet on a monthly basis.
Committees have varied schedules to accommodate the schedule of its members.
The Affiliate has a Campus Chapter at the North Dakota College of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota. This Chapter has
been very active in the construction of homes and draws upon many departments at the school including construction, surveying,
interior design, landscaping, and computer science. We also have a Covenant Community in Breckenridge / Wahpeton, that has
its own local board and fund raising effort. It might be the only two-state Covenant Community in Habitat for Humanity. We
are also in the process of building stronger ties with the Fergus Falls Minnesota State Community and Technical College.
